Species: Archaeopteryx lithographica – an iconic, feathered dinosaur from the Late Jurassic, notable as one of the earliest known birds, bridging the evolutionary gap between non-avian dinosaurs and modern birds. This reconstruction captures the distinctive anatomy of this small, winged theropod.

Length: Life-size skeleton (~50 cm in length)

Time Period: Late Jurassic (~150 million years ago)

Discovery Location: Modeled after specimens recovered from the Solnhofen Limestone of Bavaria, Germany – one of the most significant fossil sites for early birds and feathered dinosaurs. Archaeopteryx was first discovered in the 1860s and remains a key specimen in studies of avian evolution.

Skeleton: Expertly sculpted and crafted in high-quality resin. Reinforced with an internal steel armature, this reconstruction faithfully reflects the lightweight, agile anatomy of Archaeopteryx. Notable features include its elongated, feathered forelimbs (wings), long bony tail, sharp claws, and delicate skull with teeth. Skeletal texture replicates the fine detail of original fossil bone, with proportions based on composite reconstructions from multiple well-preserved specimens.

Anatomical Notes: Archaeopteryx combines reptilian and avian traits, including feathers, a wishbone, and a partially reversed toe. This reconstruction captures the evolutionary significance of the species as a transitional form capable of gliding or limited powered flight. The pose highlights the graceful curvature of the spine, the outstretched wings, and the lifelike positioning of limbs and tail.

Display: Includes a custom black metal stand designed to support the skeleton in a naturalistic, dynamic stance. The pose reflects typical perching or gliding behavior, with subtle articulation through the wings and tail.

Assembly: Ships in carefully packed sections for secure transport. Minor adhesive may be used to secure joints or internal rods where necessary.

Please note: All reconstructions are made to order. Current lead time is 4–8 weeks, though this may vary depending on workshop schedule. Smaller elements such as skulls or individual bones may ship sooner. Please reach out via chat for lead time confirmation or to discuss display needs.
