Nanotyrannus Lethaeus
Nanotyrannus Lethaeus
Species: Nanotyrannus lethaeus
Once shrouded in taxonomic controversy, Nanotyrannus is now recognized as a valid genus of small-bodied tyrannosaurid. This reconstruction captures the predator in its prime—a swift, highly adapted hunter distinct from its massive cousin Tyrannosaurus rex.
Length: 6.5 meters (21 ft)
Height: Approximately 2.3 meters (7.5 ft) at the hips
Time Period: Late Cretaceous (~68–66 million years ago)
Skeleton:
This museum-grade resin reconstruction of Nanotyrannus lethaeus is based closely on the famous specimen “Jane” (BMRP 2002.4.1), one of the most complete individuals known. The skeleton features a slender, lightweight frame with elongated limbs, a narrow skull, and finely serrated teeth suited for speed and precision in hunting. A custom internal steel armature provides strength, stability, and long-term support. The surface finish faithfully replicates authentic fossil bone texture, including realistic sutures, micro-surface detail, and natural coloration for a lifelike appearance.
Scientific Notes:
Nanotyrannus lethaeus represents a smaller, more agile branch of the tyrannosaur family that lived alongside Tyrannosaurus rex during the Late Cretaceous. Its long, narrow snout, higher tooth count, and lightly built limbs suggest a fast, pursuit-based predator rather than a brute-force scavenger. This reconstruction highlights those traits, portraying an animal evolved for speed, balance, and precision—traits that set it apart from the heavier, power-driven T. rex.
Display:
Mounted in a dynamic, forward-moving pose with its tail elevated and head angled in alert pursuit, this skeleton captures the agility and awareness of Nanotyrannus. The streamlined display, supported by a minimalist black steel base, makes it ideal for museum exhibits, educational environments, or private collections.
Finish:
Natural fossil bone coloration with subtle weathering and mineral patina. Custom finishes are available upon request, including darker mineral tones or Hell Creek–inspired coloration.
Assembly:
Ships in secure, sectional crates for safe transport. straightforward assembly. Installation by DInosaur Skeletons is also possible.
Production & Delivery:
Each skeleton is made to order. Standard production time is 3–6 months, depending on workshop schedule and customization. For current lead times, customization options (such as open-jaw mount, skull-only version, or alternative base design), or international delivery, please contact us directly.
